The Lantern Festival is on the 15th day of the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year). It marks the end of the New Year celebrations and also the first full moon day in Lunar Calendar, which symbolizes the coming spring. The festival started since more than 2000 years ago and had become a festival with significance.

The first month of the Chinese Lunar month is called the YUAN month, and night means XIAO. So the festival is called the YUAN XIAO (元宵) Festival in China. On this day, families together go out holding lanterns and enjoy the moon. They also like to solve riddles, play with fire crackers and also eat YUAN XIAO (rice ball)---a traditional Chinese desert.
